In Memoriam

Harrison (Harry) Fawcett Davison passed away peacefully at his home on the Central Coast on 27th June 2015.

He was 87.

Harry was a devoted husband to his loving wife Shirlee. They were married for almost 60 years.

Harry was a loving and proud father to son Roger and daughters Karyl and Lerae and a proud and adoring grandfather of Jason, Tristan, Kaitlyn, Emma, Alyssa and Angus.

Great grandchildren Ava and Blake idolised their Bapa.

Harry was born to English father George and Welsh mother Jenny in Cairns on April 8, 1928 and grew up with his sister Margaret in the family home in Sheridan Street. He was educated at Cairns State School, Cairns High School and Brisbane Boys' College.

He qualified as an Accountant in 1953 and was admitted as a member of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries in 1965.

In 1963 he moved the family to Mourilyan Harbour to take up the position of Business / Personel Manager with the Queensland Sugar Corporation's Mourilyan Bulk Sugar Terminal.

In 1973 was appointed to CSR head office in Sydney to manage Queensland Sugar Corporation's interests in the seven bulk sugar terminals from Cairns to Brisbane.

After retiring from CSR Harry was invited to manage the commercial business administration of restored vintage steam locomotive 3801. This role represented the culmination of his lifelong interest in trains.

Harry and Shirlee have spend their happily married life together in Cairns, Mourilyan Harbour (near Innisfail), Carlingford, Bowen Mountain and Tumbi Umbi.

Harry has also had a lifelong passion for music and musicals and successfully directed and took many lead roles in musical theatre and conducted and sang in many church and choral society choirs.

Details of the funeral service and gathering to follow will be posted here on this page as soon as they are finalised.

The family sincerely thanks Dr Quinten Willemse and Mingara Medical team and the Long Jetty Community Health and Palliative Care Teams for the care provided to Harry in recent months.

  5. So sorry to hear about Harry. We've known each other for so long and shared many good times together as members of the "Geriatrics Group". He was a very ethical and humble man who achieved such a lot in his lifetime and admired by so many, although he would never acknowledge this; he will be missed.

    Our love to all the family;
    Elaine and John.

  9. Dear Roger and Helen,

  10. We're so sorry that Harry has left us but if I have these few stand out memories to hold onto, I know that you have a lifetime of wonderful memories, like the beautiful speeches he made as father of the bride. I was so impressed with those wonderful statements of love from a father to his daughters. So whilst we are still on earth and we keep sharing our memories, Harry is someone who has just slipped away into another room for a little while, probably chatting to all the others we have had slip away.

With my fond thoughts to you all,

    Jenny and Russell Murchie
